Mae Ploy Panang Curry Paste from Thailand

Bring Thai Panang curry to your kitchen with Mae Ploy Panang Curry Paste in a 400g tub. Made in Thailand, this paste combines dried red chilli, lemongrass, shallot, garlic and galangal with shrimp paste, kaffir lime peel and spices. It gives you a prepared curry base to cook with coconut milk and fresh meat, without measuring each aromatic ingredient separately.

Panang is a red Thai curry known for its thick consistency and salty, sweet character. This paste contains 20.5% dried red chilli and 20% lemongrass, alongside coriander seed, cumin and pepper. Explore our Thai groceries for more ingredients to enjoy with your curry.

Mae Ploy Panang Curry Paste has no added MSG, no preservatives and no artificial colour. It is labelled Halal. It contains shrimp, so it is not suitable for vegetarian or vegan cooking. Always check the packaging for current ingredients and allergen information before use. Browse our cooking pastes to compare other curry bases.

How to cook Mae Ploy Panang curry

For the suggested recipe, use 50g of Panang Curry Paste with 350g of fresh meat. Stir fry the paste in 1 tablespoon of soybean oil, then add 240ml of coconut milk. Add the meat and continue cooking.

Pour in a further 120ml of coconut milk and 120ml of water, then bring to the boil. Add 1½ teaspoons of sugar, taste and adjust the seasoning to suit you. Make sure the meat is fully cooked before serving. Garnish with fresh kaffir lime leaves and sliced chillies.

Serve with cooked jasmine rice to accompany the thick curry sauce. Our rice collection is a useful place to choose an accompaniment. For a milder flavour, use half the suggested amount of paste, which is 25g for this recipe, and adjust the seasoning after tasting.

Store the unopened tub at ambient temperature and refrigerate after opening. Follow the packaging for any further storage instructions and the best before date.
